PET bottles used for hot filling of tea/juice beverages need to withstand temperatures of 85-95°C during the production process, they have higher requirements for heat resistance. Ordinary PET has poor heat resistance, and the bottles can experience volume shrinkage and neck softening at temperatures of 60-70°C. This poses an inevitable contradiction for hot filling techniques with temperatures above 85°C. In 1998, the company conducted in-depth research and developed the second-generation PET hot filling technology for tea/juice beverages, known as the medium-temperature filling technology. Building upon the existing "three-in-one" hot filling equipment, the company developed a tea/juice beverage PET medium-temperature filling production line that corresponds to the filling process, achieving industrialized production of the process and equipment.

 

Mid-temperature juice filling technology takes the temperature limit of ordinary PET bottles as its starting point. By matching it with the requirements of the filling production line and filling environment, as well as subsequent processes, the technology achieves the goal of preserving the freshness of tea/juice beverages without adding any preservatives. Through production practice, it has been demonstrated that tea beverages produced using non-heat-resistant PET bottles meet the hygiene technical standards and relevant national standards of heat-resistant PET bottle tea beverages. The taste is improved, and the product shelf life can exceed one year. By combining appropriate dissolution techniques, the product can remain free of sedimentation within one year. However, since the process still involves a certain filling temperature, the bottle selection and design require a bottle weight of 32 grams or more, along with corresponding reinforcement ribs to withstand the stress changes in PET bottles caused by cooling after hot filling. The market price of PET bottles used for this technology can be reduced to around 0.05 USD/bottle. Compared to heat-resistant PET bottles, this technology offers significant economic benefits and overcomes the issue of tight supply of heat-resistant PET bottles in the current domestic market.
