As a kind of composite material, glass fiber reinforced plastic has been widely used in aerospace, automotive, high-speed railway, decorative construction, home furniture, building materials, sanitary and sanitation engineering and other related industries due to its unique performance advantages.


Depending on the fiber used, glass fiber reinforced plastics are divided into glass fiber reinforced composite plastics (GFRP), carbon fiber reinforced composite plastics (CFRP), and boron fiber-reinforced composite plastics. It uses glass fiber and its products (glass cloth, tape, felt, yarn, etc.) as the reinforcing material and synthetic resin as the matrix material. Fiber-reinforced composites are composed of reinforcing fibers and a matrix. The diameter of the fiber (or whisker) is very small, generally less than 10 microns, and it is a brittle material, which is easy to be damaged, broken and corroded. The matrix is viscoelastic and elastoplastic and is a tough material.


The relative density of glass fiber reinforced plastic is between 1.5 and 2.0, only 1/4 to 1/5 of carbon steel, but the tensile strength is close to or exceeds that of carbon steel, and the strength can be comparable to that of high-grade alloy steel. The tensile, bending and compressive strength of some epoxy glass fiber reinforced plastics can even reach more than 400 MPa.


SMC molds are special molds. The requirements are very different from other plastic molds from design to production process to the trial mold process. The molds are generally large and medium molds. Verification, mold acceptance, production commissioning at the customer must be strictly controlled in place.

     

From the start of the mold project to the closing of the mold design, the experience of the company's technical team and the customer's technical team has been summarized in the process. It took less than 4 weeks to complete the product problem to the end of the mold data design. This includes analyzing and calculating the heating time of the steam.      



Cavity is already finished by machine , the next process is to be clean and polish .

 

Core side polishing operation. Because the mold requires electroplating, polishing must be handled by professionals. Before plating, the mold needs to be  done as the Mirror level polishing.


Through 2 days of precise adjustment of the mold, all parting surfaces, flat blocks, wear plates, and product wall thickness are adjusted.

During the adjustment process, it is necessary to repeatedly confirm the size of the knife edge of the product and the thickness of the product. The left and right tolerances of the edge of the product are within 0.1mm. The product thickness tolerance is within 0.1mm. After adjusting and confirming OK, it is necessary to test the ejection action of the mold, because the mold needs to be heated to 145-150 degrees (depending on the customer's product materials). The mold is in a high temperature state. Each of the 130 thimbles and 80 push tubes must be adjusted to the best sliding condition.


Preparing to test the mold. After the mold has been heated for 3-4 hours, it is detected that the mold temperature has reached production conditions. Since it is a T1 mold test, the parting line gap of the mold needs to be verified again after the temperature is OK.


Start to calculate the size and weight of the product and test the mold. The first mode state.

After the product is manufactured, the first thing to do is to check the thickness of the knife edge, the thickness of the product, and the thickness of the left and right.The dimensions of the T1 are repeatedly within the customer's requirements in the product's wall thickness and knife edge tolerances after repeated verification of the mold's early processing and assembly.
